The proper way to judge the price of a vacation isn’t how much it costs
— it’s how much more it costs than it would to just stay home. By that
standard, Adelle and Ron Milavsky rely on their extensive travels to
France, the Benelux countries and the British Isles to show how
travelers can tour Europe for about $100/day — or about $50/day more
than many of us end up spending on incidentals/movies/dining while home.
And they did it in the comfort of their own motorhome.
Anyone contemplating such a trip should take advantage
of the homework and legwork performed by the Milavskys, whether it’s
questions about the maximum size RV permitted (12 meters, or about 39
feet, 3 inches) or American vs. European electrical systems (not all
adapters are universal) or propane (European and American fittings are
not compatible).
There’s also invaluable advice on ports (plus campgrounds
nearby), freight forwarders, European storage facilities and extensive
highway and camping info. “There seem to be RV campgrounds everywhere,”
Adelle noted, “even in the Bois du Boulogne — which is in the heart of
