Spiro Mounds Archaeological Center is the only active site that people can visit in
Oklahoma. From A.D. 1200 to 1350, a highly organized community engaged in ceremonial
functions and far-reaching commerce. These prehistoric people left behind a vast inventory
of artifacts, many of which are displayed in the visitor center.
