Simba 30′

In only its second season of full production, the Safari Simba Class A motorhome is hitting
the road again with additional features, amenities and options. The 2005 Simba is designed
for those desiring a stylish and well-equipped Class A gas coach, at a cost that is very
competitive within the industry. According to Joe Zurbuch, Safari’s national sales manager,
the Simba is currently the fastest-growing motorhome within the company’s lineup – and
possesses a lot of value for its price point. “There hasn’t been much left out on this very
attractive coach, and model 30PDD – with a private bath and double slide – has been a huge seller for us,” he explained. “Some of the more prominent highlights of the Simba include an aluminum superstructure, dual-pane windows, new side-hinged cargo doors and very well dressed interiors.” With seven floorplans available for 2005, coaches will be priced from $91,000 to $125,000, depending on the layout and features. Model 30PDD is shorter than the average Class A at 30 feet, 8 inches. It combines luxury and agility without sacrificing livability. This model incorporates slideout roominess in the forward living room/galley and rear bedroom areas, plus all the appointments and fixtures of a much longer coach.

The 2005 Simba also has 32 percent more storage space than before, accessed by side-hinged baggage doors; the areas also include new pass-through bays with easy-to-clean, molded polyethylene compartments. Body construction on the Simba is similar to the company’s more utilitarian Trek line, and includes a welded aluminum frame, steel cage to reinforce the cockpit area, smooth aluminum exterior wall surfaces (fiberglass optional) and a peaked aluminum roof. Designers have assembled three attractive decor packages for the Simba this year: Black Slate, Ruby Canyon and Spice Route. These treatments include contemporary vinyl exterior graphics, decorative interior wall art and sculptured headboards in the bedroom reminiscent of African landscapes. Cabinetry and wood accents consist of standard vintage oak, with maple and cherry offered as options. Cabinet doors are appointed with woven raffia inserts to lend furnishings a handcrafted appearance.

Fabrics used on window surrounds, furniture, carpeting and accents have all been chosen to reflect the line’s upscale intentions. The galley in the 30PDD is compact, but contains all the necessities for home-cooked meals. Opposite this area is a booth dinette and sofa in the streetside slideout for eating, lounging and enjoying a movie on the forward 24-inch flat-screen television. As Zurbuch noted, much of the Simba’s appeal stems from the fact that Safari has always been a high-end manufacturer. “All around, I think our customers will get a coach that will measure up with the best products out there at this level,” he added.
