Seeking Snow at Smugglers Notch

Originally Published in MotorHome Magazine

Sure, kids love to roll around in the white fluffy stuff, put a carrot
nose on a snowman and toss a snowball or two, but adults can enjoy some
of that winter fun, too, at the Mountain Experience Adult Camp offered
this 2004/2005 season at Smugglers’ Notch, America’s Family Resort in
Vermont. This four-day program, run by the experienced guides from Snow
Sports University, will definitely rekindle that spark of adventure that
may have been lying dormant in you for a while. Grown-ups will be
paired with other skiers of compatible ability, with a great five
students to one guide ratio. Individuals will be encouraged to stretch
their limits, try something new and accomplish something unexpected by
the end of the class. One day is devoted to trying out new skis, or
tuning up and waxing their own skis.

Of course, the three-mountains-in-one Smugglers’ Notch resort boasts
1,000 acres of accessible snow for all levels of skiers, and offers ski
classes and day-and-night entertainment for visitors of all ages. A
one-day adult ski ticket for the current season is $56.

RVers can park in the large parking lot for the day, and can
set up camp in Gold Brook Campground in Stowe, about a 50-minute drive.
This year-round campground offers 25 full hook-up sites and can be
reached at (802) 253-7683.
