A foundation that supports wounded soldiers and their families received a donation of more than $30,000 thanks to Mike Thompson RV Super Stores and its Drive for a Cause Charity Golf Tournament.
Held July 19 at Black Gold Golf Course in Yorba Linda, Calif., the second annual tournament benefited the Wounded EOD Warrior Foundation (WEODWF). According to a press release, four EOD Team members were able to participate in the event while others provided a great display to demonstrate bomb suits and robotic equipment used in the field by soldiers.
EOD, which stands for explosive ordnance disposal, is a join service military occupation skill with EOD technicians coming from within the Army, Marines, Navy and Air Force. Those who choose this field are responsible for disarming, rendering safe and disposing of what are called IEDs – improvised explosive devices.
“We’re still working on tallying up a final number, but we can confidently say at this point we have raised over $30,000 for WEODWF,” said David Revere of Mike Thompson RV. “Representatives of Bank of America and Bank of the West also sponsored the event and joined the fun for the day. We were pleasantly overwhelmed by the support of not only our manufacturers and lenders but over 20 other local businesses and individuals who graciously made contributions and donations to help us succeed.”
Revere said the helicopter drop set a record of four times the sales of last year. Donations for the raffle and the silent auction also exceeded last year totals help our overall number increase.
Top RV manufacturers attended and provided financial support as major sponsors. Companies include Keystone RV, Thor Motor Coach, Fleetwood RV Inc., Roadtrek Motorhomes Inc., Forest River Inc. and Tiffin Motorhomes Inc.
