Redarc 50-Amp In-Vehicle Battery Charger

Originally Published in Trailer Life Magazine

Redarc Electronics has introduced a bigger, more powerful 12-volt dual-input 50-amp DC-to-DC charger to the North American market.

The new Redarc BCDC1250D in-vehicle battery charger supplies the correct charge to the auxiliary battery while preventing a flat-start battery. Having the secondary battery correctly and fully charged allows users to power all of their gadgets while on the move.

With its 50-amp charging output, the BCDC1250D is the most powerful in Redarc’s line of in-vehicle dual-batter chargers, making it ideal to quickly power 12-volt DC electrical accessories, such as electrical hydraulic pumps, refrigerators, lights, tailgates, phones, laptops and camera chargers. It has been developed to provide a higher current output, and features an additional soft-start charging stage to handle more demanding applications.

The 50-amp DC charger has separate vehicle DC and solar inputs, which greatly simplifies the installation process, and will charge from solar panels and the vehicle’s start battery simultaneously. With built-in Green Power Priority, it will select solar charging first.

Tested and proven to charge an auxiliary battery to 100 percent state of charge, the BCDC1250D provides specific charging profiles for all common battery types including AGM, standard lead acid, calcium and lithium iron phosphate (LiFeP04) batteries. It is compatible with fixed, temperature compensating and variable voltage (smart) alternators and works with 12- and 24-volt vehicle electrical systems.

BCDC1250D in-vehicle dual-battery chargers can be mounted in a variety of places for flexible installation options, from the engine bay to the inside or outside of an RV.

Retailing for $476.29, the BCDC1250D can be purchased on the Redarc Electronics website and will be available through Redarc’s North American distribution channels starting in September 2019.
