Ready for Some Football? Here Are Some RV Tailgating Party Tips

Originally Published in MotorHome Magazine

Just in time for the fall football frenzy, El Monte RV Rentals is offering up tips for successful RV tailgating.
The company supplies RVs to thousands of fans each year for both NFL
and college football games, and it knows what it takes to create the
perfect tailgate party.

The No. 1 requirement, says Joe Laing, Director of Marketing for the Los
Angeles-based rental company, is the right vehicle. “Hard-core
tailgating fans have moved beyond sandwiches in the car to multi-course
menus on the stadium parking lot. Today’s recreational vehicles have
well-equipped kitchens perfect for prepping, serving and storing food.
We’re constantly amazed at how creative RV tailgating chefs become when
given the right kitchen.”

Here are three tips Laing gives RV rental customers bound for football tailgating parties:

  • Consider the guest list: Is it a burger and sweet potato fries crowd, or will fish
tacos tempt them more? Pick an entrée likely to please and then get creative with
    toppings and side dishes.
  • Plan for portability: With careful packing, everything you need to cook, serve and
clean after your tailgate party can fit easily into most RVs. Ingredients, serving
dishes and utensils packed in storage containers keep things tidy. Folding tables and
portable grills with a wide range of accessories can make tailgating even more
    enjoyable.
  • Remember food safety rules: Keep cold food cold and hot food hot-those are the
golden guidelines of tailgating food safety. Food left sitting on tables too long can
ruin an otherwise great tailgate party.

Millions of football-loving Americans are gearing up to support their favorite teams this
fall. With the help of well-equipped RV kitchens and a big dash of creativity, it promises
to be a great tailgating season.
