Quebec, Canada: Triple Treat

Originally Published in MotorHome Magazine

Magnificent Montreal, in the province of Quebec, Canada, boasts three
of the most celebrated casinos in the world, each offering visitors
outstanding surroundings, distinctive architecture and excellent
amenities. The food, as anyone would assume, surpasses the imagination:
6,000 employees speaking 27 different languages add to the international
flair of the cuisine. The restaurants have won award after award for
their gastronomical creations.

Casino de Montreal (pictured) sits on a spectacular spit of the St.
Lawrence River and fills the prestigious buildings that once served as
the former French Pavilion during the 1967 Montreal World’s Fair. Just
10 minutes from downtown Montreal, the casino boasts 3,100 slot
machines, four 5-star restaurants, an exceptional cabaret theater and a
superb setting, which guests appreciate year-round with or without
“taking a chance.”

To the north but also on the banks of the St. Lawrence, the
Casino de Charlevoix welcomes visitors to its metropolitan setting,
which includes the historic Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu Hotel and a
challenging golf course overlooking the river. This area has attracted
vacationers for more than a century with its majestic landscapes, and is
today classified as a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. The casino offers
800 slots; the hotel touts three world-class restaurants, 405 deluxe
rooms, two pools and much more.

Third on the list, southwest of Montreal, Casino Du Lac-Leamy
(and Theatre du Casino) complete the triple treat. A remarkable complex
located on the bank of a glistening lake just 90 minutes from the
capital city of Ottawa, the resort beckons with breathtaking views and
heart-stopping action, both inside and out. Visitors can dock their
boats at the marina, guests can play on the beach and high rollers can
sample the various 2,446 gaming stations. The Five-Star Hilton Hotel
includes 350 rooms, tennis courts, a spa and pools. Of course, the
dining is first-rate and the theater exceptional.

Abundant parking is available at all three locations, and
campgrounds are close by. New Englanders and New Yorkers, in particular,
should consider heading their RVs across the St. Lawrence River for a
taste of Canadian hospitality.
