Q. I understand that all new 2007 diesels must use ultra low sulfur diesel
(ULSD) fuel. Many of us go to Mexico, where it is not available. Has any company developed
an aftermarket device so we can travel there?
A. There is no easy way to
remove sulfur from diesel fuel. You would have to remove the engine’s emission system or
re-refine the fuel, or add long-range fuel tanks. Pemex is supposed to add ULSD fuel pumps
in tourist areas. Watch the www.Pemex.com Web site for stations with ULSD fuel.
