Q & A: Inverters

Originally Published in MotorHome Magazine

Q. Is it best to leave the inverter turned on constantly, or is it best to
turn it on only when its use is needed?

A. When an inverter is switched
on, it draws some current — even if it isn’t being used. Therefore, to minimize battery
drain, we recommend keeping the inverter off when it is not needed. Additionally, there is
no shock hazard when the 120-volt AC-power output from the inverter is shut off.
