Q & A: Frozen Batteries?

Originally Published in MotorHome Magazine

Q. Can storage batteries in motorhomes freeze?

A. If they
are discharged, they can freeze at just a few degrees below the freezing temperature of
water (32F, OC). However, if they are fully charged, they can resist freezing down to most
temperatures encountered in winter. Frozen batteries should not be charged as they can
burst.
