Q. The front tires on my motorhome developed flat spots after only 7,000
miles. The dealer checked it out and said the problem was “blocking” and that I needed to
rotate the tires about every 5,000 miles. He said the all-season tires tend to suffer from
this. Does this sound reasonable?
A. Smoother highway treads do wear
straighter than knobbier treads and last longer. With highway treads, you can extend
rotation intervals compared to the more-aggressive treads; however, you should still keep
an eye on wear.
