North Carolina’s Harvest Home Celebration

Originally Published in MotorHome Magazine

Celebrate the fall season and the Appalachian heritage of the Biltmore
Estate at its Harvest Home Celebration in Asheville, North Carolina,
Fridays through Sundays, through October 22. Guests can experience the
annual traditions of families who once lived and worked on the property,
with customary mountain and agricultural legacy activities and events.
During Saturdays and Sundays of Harvest Home Celebration, the Biltmore
Estate Winery will commemorate the conclusion of the grape harvest with
Jazz Harvest Weekends.

Festive fall activities include musicians playing traditional tunes,
Appalachian cloggers, square dancers, local artisans, folk tales and
storytelling, sack races, potato races, cakewalks, farm-life
demonstrations and crafts. The winery will host live performances by
jazz ensembles, winery tours and tastings, and the kids can enjoy grape
stomps and cork tosses.

The gardens at the Biltmore Estates are filled with bright
chrysanthemums and other seasonal blooms, and the property’s trees and
shrubs display brilliant fall oranges and reds.
