According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau
(NICB), the following areas have the highest rates of vehicle thefts in
descending order. Be particularly wary in these regions: Modesto,
California; Las Vegas, Nevada; Stockton, California; Phoenix, Arizona;
Visalia, California; Seattle, Washington; Sacramento, California; San
Diego, California; Fresno, California; and Yakima, Washington.
Motorhome enthusiasts like to tow dinghy vehicles, and these
are vulnerable to theft just like any other vehicle, especially since
most are flat-towed with the key in the ignition. Therefore, be sure to
have a locking device on the tow bar and preferably a hidden kill switch
for the starter and/or ignition.
