Rumor Mill: Ford’s V-10 Navigator
Insider reports from the automotive industry say that Ford is testing a number of Lincoln Navigator SUVs equipped with V-10 Triton engines. Towing enthusiasts would enjoy the higher torque output of this engine, which is rated at 420 lb-ft, compared to the 5.4-liter V-8 currently offered. No word is available on when V-10s will be offered to the public in Navigators.

Coachmen Recall
Coachmen Shasta and Captiva 2002 models built between August and December 2001 are subject to a safety recall. On some units fitted with an optional underslung spare-tire carrier, the locking pin may not have been installed. Dealers will provide an updated bolt and locking pin. Owners who have not received notification or want further information should contact Coachmen at (800) 453-6064.

RV-Rental Information
There are more than 460 RV-rental outlets nationwide, and the demand for summer rentals has been up. Renting allows potential buyers to try RV travel and determine which type of unit best suits their needs. RV-rental costs depend on the season and size of the unit. Many larger rental locations include mileage and offer housekeeping packages with linens, cookware and other necessities for life on the road. Check the Yellow Pages under “Recreation Vehicle-Rentals” for the nearest rental outlet, or access the Recreation Vehicle Rental Association’s (RVRA) Web site at www.rvra.org for “The RVRA Rental Directory,” which lists more than 340 rental companies in the United States and Canada.
