NHTSA Investigates M-Class
The Mercedes-Benz M-Class SUV is the subject of a new investigation at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). NHTSA is researching complaints of power-steering leaks that could be present on as many as 133,000 of the vehicles. NHTSA says the investigation (not a recall yet) of the 1999-2001 ML320 was begun after seven complaints were logged; a failed hose clamp is reported to cause the fluid leaks.
Rhode Island Considers Taxing “Gas Guzzlers”
In an attempt to reduce dependence on foreign oil and improve air quality, legislation has been introduced in the Rhode Island House (H.B. 5613) to tax vehicles upon original registration $50 for every mile per gallon they average under 25 mpg.
