Newmar Corporation (newmarcorp.com), an Indiana-based manufacturer of
Class A motorhomes and fifth-wheels, is offering its distinctive Comfort
Drive Steering System on all of its 2008 diesel motorhomes as a
standard feature. The system was developed by TRW Automotive, Newmar and
Spartan Chassis.
“Because of our strategic partnership with Spartan, we now have
the ability to offer this unique feature on all of our diesel
products,” said John Sammut, Newmar’s vice president of sales and
marketing.
Comfort Drive Steering is an intelligent steering system that
decreases driver fatigue often associated with operating a typical
diesel motorhome over long distances. It also reportedly aids a driver
in maintaining a straight path by compensating for crosswinds and crowns
in the road. Comfort Drive is said to create a positive on-center feel,
which reduces parking efforts and improves reversibility when backing
up a motorhome.
Newmar first introduced the Comfort Drive Steering System on its 2007 Luxury products.
