Newmar Corporation will be offering Freightliner Custom Chassis
Corporation’s revolutionary FRED chassis in its 2008 Grand Star
motorhome — the newest addition to the Newmar Class A lineup. The Grand
Star’s optional FRED chassis, powered by the new 6.7-liter Cummins ISB
engine, offers 340 hp and 660 lb-ft of torque, while offering consumers
fuel economy up to 70 percent better than that of a traditional
gasoline-powered chassis.
Noteworthy FRED features include a 55-degree wheel cut for
greater maneuverability, a “flat floor” with no doghouse in the cockpit
area, and a 26,000-pound gross vehicle weight rating for increased
floorplan options.
“The Grand Star is a unique, new motorhome that features many
attributes often only associated with higher-priced, diesel-pusher
motorhomes, at a value you might not expect,” said John Sammut, Newmar’s
vice president of sales and marketing.
The 2008 Newmar Grand Star is expected to arrive on dealer lots during spring 2007
