New Mexico’s Deming Luna Mimbres MuseumTucked into the southwest corner of New Mexico, off Interstate 10, the
charming city of Deming offers RVers a colorful mix of modern and
traditional charm. Located in the heart of Deming is a fine regional
museum — the Deming Luna Mimbres Museum, the most delightful museum a
traveler can use as an excuse to pause at one of the dozen or more RV
parks in the area.
The variety of museum displays range from an antique auto collection to a
cowboy exhibit built around a chuck wagon from the historic Diamond A
Ranch. You can spend hours viewing the military history section and its
hundreds of military decorations and medals, but for the true museum
buff, the in-depth history of the Mimbres Indians is a sight not to be
missed. Time spent in the Southerland Doll Room is the perfect ending
for a museum tour, with shelves offering hundreds of dolls carved by
pioneers, dolls from other lands and dolls based on storybooks and toys.
