Dr. James Naismith invented basketball in Springfield, Massachusetts, in
1891. Today, the ultramodern $50 million Naismith Memorial Basketball
Hall of Fame in Springfield honors far more than just the founder. It is
an exciting, interactive memorial tribute to all who play or played the
game.
The Hall of Fame is divided into themes and areas that, woven together,
tell the complete history of the game. Sights and sounds in the lobby
make visitors feel as though they are entering an arena for a
championship game. A full-size basketball court and an interactive
scoreboard allow visitors to participate.
The Hall of Fame is open daily; admission is $15 for adults,
$12.50 for seniors, $10 for children. There is plenty of free parking.
