MSRPs on Websites

Originally Published in Trailer Life Magazine

When searching for an RV, one of the most sought-after bits of information, naturally, is the price. Once you have a pretty good idea how much a particular RV will cost, you can either continue looking at that model or search elsewhere for something that fits into your budget a little better. A great place to view msrps is the Trailer Life/Woodalls RV Buyers Guide (www.rvbg.com), which contains hundreds of new RV models, prices, pics and specs.

But recently, Excel RVs (www.excelrvs.com) has made the decision to put msrps on its website, so buyers can see right off the bat how much the trailers cost. This also allows buyers to choose dealerships wisely, as they now know the difference between what the manufacturer thinks they should sell for, and what the dealerships have decided to charge.

I think this is a great move by Petersen, as it not only gives potential buyers one more valuable tool at their disposal, but also improves the company’s already respectable credibility. Many automotive manufacturers have been doing this for years, and I, for one, would prefer this become common practice in the RV industry, but I’d love to hear what you think.
