If Charles Darwin were studying the evolution of the RV, he might wonder why some models spring into existence when the environment is already so diverse. Well, to find out why the K-Z Jag was created, all he would have to do is ask Bob Schroeder, national sales manager for K-Z. Of the 13 travel-trailer floorplans, eight weigh in at less than 5,000 pounds empty, making
them especially appealing to people who don’t want to buy a big, heavy-duty tow vehicle.
Bob is quick to point out that the company has won the Dealer Satisfaction Index (DSI)
award five years in a row, and has rated very highly in all 21 categories. “With retail
prices ranging from $13,650 to $20,842, and with the same craftsmen building this unit as
well as K-Z’s $50,000-plus units, this is a great value for the money.” Lightening the
wallet to the tune of just under $15,000, the 29JB offers a bonus sleeping arrangement of
twin bunks stacked in the curbside rear corner. Between the stateroom up front with its
queen bed, the optional convertible sofa, the convertible dinette and these bunks, it’s a
trailer that can accommodate a rather sizable family. The Jag comes standard with interior
and exterior showers fed by a six-gallon water heater that can be optioned up to run on
LP-gas and 120-volt AC electrical power. In the well-equipped L-shape kitchen, there’s a
six-cubic-foot refrigerator/freezer, a three-burner range with conventional oven, a
microwave and a double sink. Utensils glide in and out inside deluxe roller drawers, and
solid-oak-framed cabinet doors dress up the woodwork. For warm-weather comfort, the 29JB comes standard with a 13,500-BTU ducted air conditioner that can be optionally upgraded to 15,000 BTU. Or you might decide to relax under the large side awning, where you can tempt the neighbors by cooking dinner on the optional outside grill. For entertainment, the trailer is equipped with an AM/FM stereo radio and CD player, a TV antenna and booster and a cable hookup. Evolutionary?
