Leisure Travel Vans Launches Free Spirit SS with Roadside Slide

Calling it an industry first, Triple E Recreational Vehicles announced the launch of its all-new Leisure Travel Van Free Spirit SS single-slide Class B motorhome built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van chassis.

Designed in conjunction with a German aerospace engineer, the Free Spirit SS is the RV industry’s first Sprinter van with a full streetside slideout, Leisure Travel Vans (LTV) said in a news release. Traditionally, the company said, Sprinter-based motorhomes have limited floorplan designs because of the confined space of the compact van. The Free Spirit SS, however, has a large slideout to allow for a unique floorplan that takes on characteristics similar to the company’s larger Unity Class B+ model.

With the slideout located behind the driver’s seat and directly across from the sliding entry door, the Free Spirit SS boasts a living area with an open feel. A fold-down, memory foam-topped sofa bed is located in the slideout and converts to the sleeping area at night. Moving back in the motorhome, the European-inspired galley is equipped with upscale cabinetry, Corian countertops and quality appliances. Across from the galley on the driver’s side is a wall of storage space, including a hanging wardrobe and full-size drawers.

A key feature of the Free Spirit SS is its large, three-piece dry bathroom with porcelain toilet, dedicated and spacious shower, and vanity.

“It’s incredible how spacious the Free Spirit SS feels inside,” General Manager Ryan Elias said. “It really doesn’t feel as though you are in a van. It has a very open feel to it, much more like a wide-body Class B+. Because of the SS’s unique layout, we believe this product will appeal not only to customers looking for a Class B van, but also to people who are looking for something slightly larger, with a little more room.”

The SS boasts a full stand-up enclosed shower.

Other notable features include the sliding screen door to allow for open air living while keeping the bugs out and a large storage compartment accessible from the van’s rear doors. The company said there is space for two golf bags with room to spare in this rear storage area. Find European-styled curved wood cabinetry and Ultraleather furniture throughout.

On the technological side, the SS has a 22-inch LED TV mounted on a swing-out arm for interior and exterior viewing, a 7-inch in-dash Sony GPS, and back-up camera with Bluetooth/iPod/USB connections.

LTV said the Free Spirit SS gets an estimated 19-22 MPG and has a base MSRP of $119,470. The company will display it during America’s Largest RV Show in Hershey, Pa., from Sept. 12-16, and at the California RV Show in Pomona from Oct. 12-21.
