King of the Road, a York, Nebraska-based fifth-wheel manufacturer, recently began building
its Genesis diesel-pusher coach. It’s the company’s first-ever Class A motorhome. Retailing
in the $300,000 range, Genesis — with a welded aluminum frame with vacu-bonded, gelcoat,
fiberglass side walls and roof — is built on a Freightliner XC chassis with a Cummins ISL
400-hp engine and Allison 3000 MH automatic six-speed transmission. Genesis initially is
being offered in four 40-foot floorplans: one double slideout, two triple slides and a
quad. The interior features a 32-inch plasma flat-screen television, hardwood cabinetry, a
central vacuum system and Smart Wheel steering system.
