When you have to install a fitting (coupling or outlet adapter) to the end of a flexible sewer hose, it can be difficult. In cold weather, it can be next to impossible, since the plastic becomes less flexible and the opening smaller than the fitting. A simple solution is to turn on your furnace and use its exhaust heat to warm the hose. Just hold the end of the hose near the exhaust vent while warm air is blowing out. The heat makes the plastic soft again. If necessary, you can also lube the fitting with dish soap and insert it with ease.
