Right next door to Las Vegas, Nevada, is the community of Henderson.
Next time you pass through, allow some time to visit the Clark County
Heritage Museum. Its 25 acres are chock-full of interesting displays.
You’ll see things as varied as a collection of historic homes and a gown
once worn by singer Ella Fitzgerald during one of her Vegas
performances.
Besides the homes on Heritage Street, outdoor exhibits
include a resurrected ghost town, a Paiute Indian camp and the 1932
Boulder City Depot with authentic train cars and memorabilia. The main
exhibit center features a timeline from prehistory to the 20th century,
with a lot of items from Vegas’ early days.
There’s something for everyone, even shaded areas for impromptu
picnics. The museum is open daily; for current hours, exhibits and
programs, call (702) 455-7955. Admission is $1.50 for adults, $1 for
children and seniors.
