Goodyear Announces New RV-Tire Line

Goodyear has announced the G647 RSA, a new tire line that has applications in Class B and C
motorhomes, as well as fifth-wheel trailers. Goodyear’s RV Marketing Manager Fetti reports
that the G647 RSA has an M/S rating (mud and snow) and provides excellent wet traction
through circumferential grooves and lateral blading. “The tire also features a
rounded-tread radius . . . to maximize tread life and to reduce tread ‘scrubbing’ when
making sharp turns,” explained Fettig. “Coupled with steel ply-steel belt construction that
helps ward off punctures, we were able to produce an even-wear tire that has long wear
life,” he said. Helping to extend tire life even longer are special compounds found in the
G647 RSA that combat ozone exposure, which often deteriorates the rubber in tires. “For
most RVs, tires will actually wear out due to age versus mileage,” said Fettig. “Our
engineers have developed anti-oxidants and anti-ozonants that help reduce the harmful
effects of ozone making our tires less prone to age cracking.” The anti-oxidants and
anti-ozonants were designed specifically to prevent sidewall cracking. Cracking occurs when
sidewalls are exposed over time to sunlight, which contains ozone. The G647 RSA comes in
nine tire widths and sizes (for 16- to 19.5-inch wheels) to fit most applications.
