Good Sam Lobbying for Full-Timers’ Voting Rights

Originally Published in MotorHome Magazine

The Good Sam Club is lobbying for a national law to guarantee the federal voting rights of
people who live full time in their recreational vehicles. Jerry C. Hill, the lobbyist
working on behalf of Good Sam, would like to see full-time RVers included in a proposal
before Congress about the absentee voting procedures for U.S. residents living in foreign
countries during federal elections. The proposed legislation would have election ballots
mailed 45 days prior to a federal election to the address designated by the voter. The bill
was introduced as a result of the controversial outcome to last year’s presidential
election in the state of Florida. It would replace existing state laws with one federal law
establishing rules for federal elections.
