Fuel Use in Northwest Drops

According to a study by the Seattle-based Sightline Institute,
per-capita fuel consumption is declining in the Pacific Northwest, but
is rising slightly in the rest of the United States.

Gasoline usage in the Northwest states of Washington, Oregon
and Idaho has dropped significantly, from 8.8 gallons per person per
week in 1990, to 7.9 in 2006. Overall U.S. per-capita consumption
remains at approximately 8.9 gallons, with individual states ranging
from 11.8 in Wyoming to about 4.1 gallons in Washington, D.C.
