Freightliner Increases XC Options

Originally Published in MotorHome Magazine

Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation (FCCC) has added three
lowered-engine options on its popular XC chassis: the Caterpillar C-7
engine on the XC raised rail chassis, and the Caterpillar C-7 and
Cummins ISB engines on the XC straight rail chassis. By year’s end, FCCC
plans to have a lowered-engine choice on all XC chassis.

The patent-pending lowered-engine design allows RV
manufacturers to achieve a flat floor in the rear bedroom of the
motorhome, providing owners greater ease when walking in the area and
more storage options. The option also creates a lower center of gravity
for the coach, translating into improved ride and handling.

“Lowering the engine position has allowed our customers to
create new and innovative floorplans,” said Dean Schaper, director of
sales and marketing. “Rolling out the C-7 and ISB in this configuration
will allow more of our customers to take advantage of this new
technology.”
