Free Admission During National Park Week

Originally Published in MotorHome Magazine

Not only will all 392 national parks have free admission during National
Park Week, April 17 to 25, but also during this annual celebration,
parks will feature family friendly activities and special offers on
tours, lodging, food and souvenirs.

Mammoth Cave National Park
will offer free Mammoth Passage cave tours throughout the week. The
tours follow a route along Houchins Narrows, the Rotunda, the nitre
mining artifacts, Audubon Avenue, and Rafinesque Hall–some of the
mammoth passages for which the cave was named. Also at Mammoth Cave,
April 17 is designated as Wildflower Day. Mammoth Cave Hotel will offer a 10 percent discount on
all regularly priced gift shop merchandise during National Park Week.

Starting at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 18, 2010, a five-mile run, a
three-mile walk, and a one-mile youth fun run begin the celebration of
National Park Week at Valley Forge National Historical Park.

Experience Living History at Colonial Days during National Park Week at Charles Pinckney National Historic Site,
SC. Celebrate National Park Week with two days of Lowcountry living
history. Charles Pinckney National Historic Site presents “Colonial
Days” from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, April 23 and
24, 2010. Watch craftsmen in period dress demonstrate rice-pounding,
indigo-dyeing, iron-smithing and brick masonry. Visitors can participate
in a game of historic cricket. Also included are Revolutionary War
soldiers, 18th century music, sweet-grass basket sewing, quilting,
African drumming, Gullah storytelling and dramatic presentations on
Eliza Lucas Pinckney and Charles Pinckney. All programs are free and the
park charges no admission.

In addition, many national park concessioners are offering special promotions.
