Find Your Adventure: I Can See Clearly Now

Originally Published in MotorHome Magazine

Having tripped through our share of national parks researching our “Find Your Adventure” series celebrating the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service, we can vouch for that old saying, “Into every life a little rain (and snow, and sleet – well, you get the picture) must fall.”  When that shower turns into a torrent, however, that’s when you’re going to be glad you had the forethought to apply Rain-X to your windscreen.

Now, we know Rain-X hardly qualifies as a new product.  What is novel here, though, are the number of different formulations this time-tested glass water-repellent can be had in. Unlike the traditional version which required massaging an opaque coating onto the windshield and side glass and then buffing off the residue, there are now formulations that require little to no elbow grease.

For example, there are windshield wiper blades and washer fluid that deposit a thin coating of the water repellent every time you use them. There’s glass cleaner with the same water-repellent coating and individual anti-fog wipes to keep condensation from building up inside the window. All designed with one thing in mind: allowing you to see more clearly now, even before the rain has gone.
