A robustly built four-season bunkhouse that is amply equipped to take adventuresome families off the grid with all the comforts of home
For families with plans to go camping off the grid or in cold weather, Northwood Manufacturing is a good place to start. Northwood has earned a loyal following by offering solidly built travel trailers, fifth-wheels and truck campers with four-season capability. The 2020 Nash 24B is one of only two bunkhouses in Northwood’s 2020 trailer lineup, and it’s worth considering for families seeking a midsize trailer that is ready to venture off the beaten path.
The Nash 24B extends 28 feet, 8 inches, and has an 8,000-pound gross vehicle weight rating and 1,677-pound claimed carrying capacity. The dry weight of 6,323 pounds is more than many similarly sized trailers, but this heft reflects the solid construction materials, all-weather insulation and other premium features.
Designed for Adventure
The Nash 24B is well equipped for rugged camping experiences, with a Northwood-built and independently certified off-road chassis. RVers looking to camp without hookups will be pleased to note that this model comes with a standard 20-watt solar panel and side-wall solar port. Black-, gray- and freshwater-tank capacity is also quite generous, enabling extended stays.
Those who wish to camp throughout the year will appreciate the heated and insulated holding tanks and valves. Residential-quality batten and reflective-foil insulation helps keep things comfortable inside, along with the 13,500-Btu air conditioner and ducted heating.
Room for the Family
Parents can escape to the front bedroom, which features dual-entrance accordion doors, a queen-size bed with USB ports on both sides, and abundant storage cabinets. At the other end of the trailer, more sleeping space is found in the double-over-double bunks. Each has a pair of cabinets, as well as storage cubbies.
The main living area is a cozy space where the family can gather around the booth dinette, housed in the trailer’s single slideout, which is flanked by a tall storage pantry and two large windows. A central entertainment center includes room for a television. Window valances and wood accents with scenes of wildlife and foliage add to the outdoorsy ambience.
Comfortable Living
The kitchen feels residential, thanks to knotty-alder cabinets, stainless-steel appliances and a custom glass backsplash. The 7-cubic-foot refrigerator stores an ample supply of chilled and frozen food, and the L-shaped countertop increases storage space above and below and provides room for a large dual sink with a cover and a three-burner range top. The adjacent bathroom includes all the necessities including a full tub and a porcelain toilet.
With a starting price of $33,027, the Nash 24B gives families a comfortable living space, no matter the conditions outside the front door.
