Family-Friendly RV: Keystone Bullet Crossfire 2200BH

Originally Published in Trailer Life Magazine

With a convertible Murphy bed and a $23,275 base price, the Bullet Crossfire 2200BH bunkhouse trailer is a comfy cottage on wheels for a family a four.

For families seeking maximum floor space with minimal exterior length, travel trailers with Murphy beds are a terrific choice. The ability to transform a couch to a bed adds functionality to a trailer with a small footprint. The Keystone Bullet Crossfire 2200BH is one such Murphy bed model. The convertible living space and the light, modern interior make the trailer feel much larger than its 25-foot, 4-inch length.

Fresh Styling

It has been refreshing to see the travel trailer industry offering more contemporary decor options than the browns and beiges that have dominated for years. The 2200BH features Keystone’s new Coastal Cottage decor package, which is awash in cream and taupe. Most of the woodwork is white, with occasional deep-brown accents. Stainless-steel appliances and matching drawer and cabinet handles add a modern sparkle.

The galley has everything RV chefs need, and the outdoor kitchen (not shown) extends the cooking space.

All the Necessities

While the 2200BH does not have a slideout, floor space feels plentiful. The convertible Murphy bed sofa is located at the front of the trailer. Unlike some Murphy beds, this one does not feature a residential-style mattress; instead, it has a trifold mattress, which stows into a space behind the couch during the day. Folded bedding fits here, as well. Mirrored wardrobes and nightstands flank the bed.

The galley features a 6-cubic-foot double-door refrigerator, a microwave, a deep double sink topped by a high-rise faucet, and a three-burner cooktop with a flip-up cover that extends the counter space. Across from the kitchen is a small bench dinette topped by storage cabinets and a space to install a television.

With a large window above it, the dinette is a bright place for families to gather for meals or games.

At the rear, the 2200BH features two wide bunks. Each has a window, an electrical outlet and storage shelves, amenities kids will appreciate. Step inside the bathroom to find a tub-and-shower combo, a toilet, sink and storage cabinets.

Exterior Angles

Wide bunks in the rear of the trailer feature windows, electrical outlets and storage shelves.

The fiberglass exterior is smooth and sleek, with minimal graphics. Not visible are the construction features, such as the aluminum-framed walls and floors, and Darco moisture barrier, all backed by a three-year limited structural warranty.

A large electric awning with LED lighting extends the living space outside, as does the exterior kitchen, which features a fridge and a two-burner cooktop. Additional exterior amenities include an LP-gas cylinder cover, pass-through storage with magnetic door catches, an outside shower and a propane quick-connect.

The 2200BH has a a stated carrying capacity of 2,174 pounds and a 6,300-pound gross vehicle weight rating, keeping it light enough to be towed by larger, suitably equipped SUVs and half-ton pickups.
