E-Z Lube Service

Originally Published in Trailer Life Magazine

Q: Our travel trailer has E-Z Lube axles, and this appears to be a great thing as many fifth-wheel and travel trailer advertisements make a point of telling a potential purchaser that they are installed on the unit being advertised. However, I have not been able to find any information on how often the axles should receive a shot of grease. How often, time or miles, should a few shots of grease be squirted into the fittings to prolong the life of the wheel bearings? We are full-time RVers and this is an important issue to us given the number of miles we travel.

A: When in doubt, Dale, give the manufacturer a call or go to the manufacturer website and check its maintenance procedure information for the product in question. We did, and found that Dexter, the E-Z Lube manufacturer, recommends they be serviced “…every 2,000 miles or annually, whichever comes first.”
