The Infinity line of Thor’s Dutchmen division has been positioned as the company’s luxury fifth-wheel series, and with good reason. It focuses on feature-packed designs with spacious living quarters, residential kitchens, plush master bedrooms and ample storage. We chose the model 3640RL (rear lounge) to spotlight, but each Infinity model offers variations that are sure to be popular with a wide range of RVers.
The optional Platinum Package ($7,000) adds a host of upgrades included on this particular unit. Interior refinements include Beauflor flooring, designer window treatments, antique-style glazed cherry cabinetry, solid-cherry stiles and slide-room fascias. The main living area opens up greatly, thanks to the three slideouts and tall ceiling. A Comfort Air sofa bed provides space for two overnight guests, plus dual swivel rocker recliners combine with the four dinette chairs to accommodate everyone. There’s even a computer desk with a chair in the corner. A Samsung 32-inch LCD HDTV, along with the optional fireplace, adds to the homey feel. The DVD and 5.1 surround-sound system with iPod inputs pumps out the tunes and TV sound.

Exterior features include large windows and high-gloss laminated fiberglass side walls with attractive graphics. Welded aluminum-cage construction with five-way lamination of the 2-inch-thick vacuum-bonded side walls and 3-inch-thick laminated floors adds durability. The 10-inch drop-rail Z-frame chassis with Lippert 7,000-pound Super Lube axles provides a sturdy foundation. Trail Air Equa-Flex suspension and quad shock absorbers reduce bouncing and stabilize the ride. A Darco underbelly with enclosed and heated tanks plus storage area aids cold-weather operation, and there’s a Glacier option for extreme conditions. A Lippert extended pin box allows sharper turning angles. Auto-adjusting electric rear-stabilizer jacks and hydraulic slide-room mechanisms help with setup.
The 36FL kitchen is a bit of home on the road.
A roomy exterior pass-through storage bay provides ample stowage for outdoor items and tools and the Grand Canyon Package serves to spiff up the storage even more. The Convenience Docking Station keeps the fresh and city water fills, power connection, TV cable, bypass valves and black-tank flush all in one centralized location. Other handy items include an exterior shower, water-heater bypass, winterization valve and a large power awning with remote control.
The master bedroom features a spacious cedar walk-in closet with storage shelves and a radiused ceiling. There are also hookups for a washer/dryer combo in the closet. A 32-inch streetside slideout makes room for the king-size bed, which comes with a memory-foam mattress and lifts up for under-bed storage. An optional 24-inch HDTV mounts on the curbside wall for bedtime viewing.
Moving to the bathroom, there are two entry doors, and the 56-inch long one-piece shower enclosure with a skylight adds headroom and daylight. And that big 12-gallon DSI gas/electric water heater will supply plenty of hot water for long showers. A large vanity with a sink, medicine cabinet and commode complete the facilities.
Year-round comfort is assured with the digital smart dual-zone thermostat that controls the Quiet Zone ducted 15,000-Btu air conditioning and a 40,000-Btu furnace.
This is a trailer for folks who like to live well and cook gourmet meals. The spacious kitchen features loads of working space on granite-look countertops and plenty of storage cabinets. A large dual-basin stainless-steel galley sink rivals those found in residential units. The roomy refrigerator can hold all the fixin’s and there’s a three-burner range and microwave on hand for cooking.

Overall, the Infinity 3640RL is a handsome, livable fifth-wheel with an open living area, home-style comforts such as the fireplace and dual recliners, large kitchen with ample counter space, residential-style dining area and a pleasant bedroom — all of which should make it popular with snowbirds and other long-term users.
