Dodge Diagnostic Difficulties

Originally Published in Trailer Life Magazine

I read with interest the letter from John Hoskins (January 2005) regarding Dodge diagnostic difficulties. I recently blew the transmission in my 1999 Dodge 2500 and replaced it with an ATS Diesel Products TripleLok torque converter with the electronic commander. The [ATS] stated that they have run across numerous instances of lockup-fourth-gear searching problems with no trouble codes and have devised a fix for the problem. This fix is available on their Web site and is basically outlined in the first page of their download [see below].

This is simple and might be worth a try as a fix for Mr. Hoskins’ problem. One thing ATS told me over the phone that’s not included in the downloadable information is to be sure to add a new ground wire from the ground terminal connection to a good solid, clean ground point.
