Craigdarrock Castle in Canada

Originally Published in Trailer Life Magazine

Located in Victoria, British Columbia, the Craigdarrock Castle is a Canadian must-see. Built in 1890, the 26,000-square-foot castle stretches across a 28-acre estate. Surprisingly, though built in the late 19th century, the castle was finished with working electricity, running hot and cold water, telephone, central heat and even a burglar alarm. In 1959, the Craigdarroch Castle Historical Museum Society was formed and dedicated to preserve and restore the castle that was then owned by the City of Victoria. And in 1994, the Society purchased the castle from Victoria for $1 on the condition that the castle operate as a museum. Today, visitors can tour the museum and gift shop.
