When servicing some Ford 4.6L, 5.4L or 6.8L engines, two-piece spark plugs may separate during removal. Federal-Mogul’s Champion brand has solved this issue with an innovative Champion Double Platinum Power “high-thread” plug (No. 7989) that replaces the conventional design with a single-piece configuration.
The new plug features an extended ceramic post that is said to virtually eliminate flashover and also carries the brand’s exclusive Heat-Active alloy, which is said to enable
it to more quickly reach optimum temperature range.
