Ford to Develop Its Own Diesels

Strong rumors persist that Ford has been working on a program to design and manufacture its own diesel engines for use in model-year 2010 light trucks. These engines would replace the Power Stroke diesels that have been built by Navistar for Ford. No word yet on specific details, including size and power ratings.

New GMC SUV Coming

Word is out that GMC’s newest upcoming SUV, the Terrain, will be based on the same platform as Chevrolet’s Equinox. The duo will arrive for the 2010 model year. Production begins in August 2009, with sales following shortly afterwards.

Production of Some GM Pickups, SUVs Halted

General Motors has stopped production of some 2008 full-size pickups and SUVs, stating that the allocation volume for the Dealer Order Submission Process cycles beginning May 8 and May 15 have been canceled. It is believed that this is due to a shortage of components due to an axle-supplier strike.

GE Quits Motorhome Loans

General Electric Company has announced that it will stop offering consumer loans for the purchase of motorhomes. GE was the third-largest provider of financing for RV buyers, holding 12 percent of the market. GE will stop accepting applications by July and end writing new loans on August 1, 2008.
