Battery Choices

Q. We have a 2002 Wildcat fifth-wheel trailer and would like to know what is the best type of battery to buy that will take a charge and stay charged. I have seen different types, but I cannot decide. Any suggestions would help. Thanks for your input.

A. Trailer Life ran an extensive article on this subject called “Battery Bits” in the April 2006 issue. It contains much of the information you need to know before your purchase. Before you decide on which battery to buy, you should consider how much you rely on the battery’s power (do you dry camp and use an inverter heavily?), and decide how long you intend to keep the coach.
