Looking for a fun and informative out-of-this-world diversion while RVing in southeast Arizona? Visitors to Butterfield RV Resort can learn about deep space and heavenly bodies courtesy of Ken Klein and David Dalton, amateur astronomers and self-proclaimed “Astronerds” who give nightly star talks (weather permitting) at the resort’s astronomical observatory, which features a 16-inch Meade University Grade telescope. “We look at planets or star clusters,” said Klein, who is on site full-time, of the star talks, which are provided free of charge to park guests. “Right now, we’re looking at the Andromeda Galaxy, which is 2.5 million miles away.” As many as 18 people can fit inside the observatory at a time. The groups are limited in size so that everyone can have a chance to peer through the telescope to see the topic of the night’s discussion. Reservations for the RV park can be made here. Rates begin at $38 per night; Good Sam Club members receive a 10% discount.
