Amsoil Synthetic Lubricants

Originally Published in Trailer Life Magazine

Some synthetic products are not considered to be as good as natural ones, however this certainly isn’t the case with engine oils and other automotive lubricants. RVing puts severe demands on the engines and drivetrains of tow vehicles and motorhomes, which are more heavily laden and subject to higher internal operating stresses than most passenger cars ever encounter. Synthetics do an excellent job protecting your engine and drivetrain. They’re well-suited for high stress, including extreme temperatures, heavy trailer towing and high-mileage engines.

A pioneer in automotive synthetic lubrication, Amsoil produced the world’s first API-qualified synthetic motor oil in 1972, and continues to offer a wide variety of automotive products today.

Synthetic Premium Protection Motor Oil

Designed for use in both gasoline and diesel engines, Amsoil Synthetic Premium Protection Motor Oil is said to offer multi-functionality and wear protection, especially for flat-tappet cams. It’s available in several weights and is called for in applications where the extra protection of a higher-viscosity oil is desired.

Premium API CJ-4 Synthetic Diesel Oil

This synthetic CJ-4 diesel oil is suggested for model year 2007 and newer heavy-duty and pickup truck diesel engines requiring API CJ-4 oil. Designed to protect diesel engines in heavy-duty applications, it exceeds manufacturer’s spec’s for emission-controlled diesel engines and offers extended drain intervals. Synthetic 15W-40 Diesel Oil is a low-sulfated ash formulation that provides excellent performance in low-emission diesel applications. It is compatible with all exhaust treatment devices and is designed to extend the service life of diesel particulate filters (DPF). Meets API CJ-4, CI-4+, CF and SM specs.

Synthetic Heavy Duty Diesel & Marine Motor Oil

Designed for pre-2007 diesels in on-road applications, the heavy-duty synthetic diesel and marine grade oil is said to control acids from combustion blow-by and EGR, and additives control soot thickening, oxidation and wear. Its unique synthetic formulation and long-drain additives deliver maximum protection, cleanliness and performance over extended change intervals, reducing vehicle maintenance and waste-oil disposal costs.

Synthetic Multi-Vehicle Automatic Transmission Fluid

Amsoil’s Synthetic Multi-Vehicle Automatic Transmission Fluid is engineered to outperform conventional automatic transmission fluids and exceed the manufacturer’s performance requirements of most North American, European and Asian vehicles. This formulation is designed for top performance and protection in the severe operating conditions of modern transmission designs.

Torque-Drive Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid

Engineered specifically for the Allison TES-295 transmission fluid specification, it replaces Allison/Castrol Transynd fluid. Engineered for protection in temperature extremes, it is claimed to ensure consistent, smooth clutch-pack engagement over the life of the fluid, and control clutch glazing. Torque-Drive is recommended as a direct replacement for TranSynd Synthetic ATF in heavy-duty, on- and off-highway automatic transmissions manufactured by Allison, General Motors, Ford, Voith and ZF, and meets the standards TES-295, TES-389, C-4, Dexron III, and Mercon.

Amsoil also offers oil analyses to its customers. For more information or the location of your nearest dealer, contact Amsoil: 800-956-5695, www.amsoil.com.

Gasoline Direct Injected Compression-Ignition Engines

According to MIT’s Technology Review, automotive parts maker Delphi is developing a gasoline-fueled engine that uses diesel-engine technology to improve fuel mileage. Traditional gasoline engines use spark ignition, and diesel engines ignite fuel with the heat from compressing air. Delphi’s experimental design, called gasoline-direct-injection compression ignition, mixes advanced fuel injection and air intake and exhaust controls including injecting gasoline in timed squirts. Delphi used a single-cylinder engine to test the method and is now working with multi-cylinder engines to more closely replicate a production design. The engines could improve fuel economy of gasoline-powered vehicles by up to 50 percent.
