American Coach celebrates the addition of the newest member to its luxury coach line this year with the arrival of the Revolution. Repositioned from the Fleetwood stable as the first of four luxury touring motorhomes, the Revolution is available in three floorplans that offer the features, amenities and finishes sought by discriminating  RV enthusiasts.

Built on the Spartan/American Coach-inspired Liberty chassis, the raised rail frame offers a 30 percent increase in pass-through storage yet retains the rigidity necessary for a smooth, comfortable and controlled ride. Equipped with all-drum ABS-equipped air brakes and auto-slack adjusters, the Revolution also comes standard with Bilstein shocks to help keep travel in check.

The Revolution is powered by a variable turbo, 450-hp Cummins ISL 8.9-l engine with high/low braking that feeds the six-speed Allison 3000MH push-button transmission. Vital engine and accessory fluid filters are remotely grouped together in a rear exterior compartment, making maintenance refreshingly convenient.

In the cockpit, comfortable Villa tall-back six-way powered driver and copilot seats are stitched in Ultraleather, anchored by the curved ergonomic dashboard and center stack that places all controls at the driver’s fingertips. Additional driver function controls are incorporated into the four-spoke steering wheel. Offered only on the Revolution, multidisplay speed, engine and air pressure gauges are clustered in a unique steering column-mounted half-round pod, separated from the dash. The gauge pod moves with the tilt/telescoping steering wheel, maintaining a clear view in any position for drivers of differing heights. Adjustable pedals complete the driver’s cockpit.

Dual dash monitors handle expected multifunction radio, music and GPS functions on one; and provide the rear view with one-way rear audio and side camera views on the other. Above the cockpit is the 32-inch Sony Bravia flat-screen LCD TV, the first of two in the cabin with the second 40-inch LCD screen set into the china cabinetry next to the galley. A Blu-ray DVD and surround sound system round out the components. An exterior side wall TV entertainment center is also available.

The 27-foot-long driver’s-side slide is 30 inches deep and opens to create a very spacious cabin capable of entertaining a large crowd. Opposing couches in matching Ultraleather are available as pneumatic sofa beds to accommodate overnight guests. The facing booth dinette is centrally located across from the well-appointed galley that offers an all-electric appliance option that includes a residential Whirlpool refrigerator. The 70/30 sink is set in a handsome Corian solid-surface countertop and serviced by a brushed residential pullout faucet with a tile and glass mosaic backsplash; the same Corian is used throughout the coach. A GE convection/microwave oven handles baking needs while the optional drawer-style Fisher & Paykel dishwasher occupies the space below the Jenn-Air cooktop. Adequate storage exists for cookware and pantry needs in the galley and additional wall storage cabinets ring the cabin.

Other galley features include a 13-inch by 24-inch pullout countertop extension and drawer to increase working space and the standard Splendide washer-and-dryer stacked combo that resides next to the fridge in matching vented cabinetry. Opposite the fridge and laundry is the handy half-bath with china bowl toilet and corner vanity with medicine cabinet.

The open floorplan continues into the elegant coffered-ceiling bedroom that offers a queen-size innerspring mattress on a platform with pedestal storage below. The room is expanded by the curbside slide. The headboard surround matches the room’s woodwork and comes with dual nightstands that include both 12-volt DC and 120-volt AC outlets. A king bed option is also available. Opposite the bed is a nine-drawer dresser with solid-surface countertop and a 32-inch Sony Bravia LCD HDTV above it, flanked by audiovisual and media storage cabinets.

The step-up rear bath occupies the full width of the coach along with the cedar-lined rear wall wardrobe. A neo-corner shower with skylight dome and obscured glass is separated from the vacuum-flush commode and corner vanity by the centered doorway and when closed, creates a spacious and private dressing room.

The Revolution offers the features and amenities that luxury motorhome enthusiasts are looking for and an extensive list of standard features.

The handsome raised-panel cherry cabinetry and intricate wood trim and interior décor used throughout are noteworthy, creating an elegant environment – a testament to the talents of the design team and the cabinet and trim shop craftspeople. Brand-name appliances, robust owner-friendly systems in three distinct floorplans combine with the builder’s attention to detail that should provide years of trouble-free enjoyment in this rolling home away from home.
