Amazing Trailer Kitchens

One of the highlights of RVing is getting away from home and cooking in an outdoor setting. The usual hot dogs, tri-tip and hamburgers work quite well on either the campfire or in the conventional trailer kitchen, but what if you want more? Like filet mignon, roasted salmon or even an elaborate dessert? Or, perhaps you’re looking to eat healthier, and the carbs and cholesterol afforded by campsite fare are restricted or even forbidden in your everyday diet?

Traditional RV floorplans are, by necessity, compromised when it comes to storage, prep space, oven size and the number of shelves in the fridge. Many trailer manufacturers have recognized this and are striving toward offering owners luxuriant culinary spaces with expanded amenities and upgraded galley facilities. These upgrades often include expanded cabinet space, larger or even additional appliances, more drawers, etc. — all designed to improve your cooking experience. We’ve gathered some of our favorites here that have been designed to inspire breathtaking, Michelin-Star-worthy meals from even the most humble cooks among us.

 

CrossRoads Cruiser Patriot CF 335 SS

The Trailer: The triple-slide Cruiser Patriot includes many amenities generally reserved for larger, more expensive fivers, including a freestanding dinette with chairs, a coat rack and a chest of drawers in the master bedroom. Stout construction, including 16-inch aluminum truss rafters, 8- to 10-inch steel I-beam framing and a one-piece rubber roof, offer owners peace of mind when it comes to longevity. Additional comforts like power front jacks, residential-grade carpeting and a black-tank flush make in-camp time a breeze. The 335 SS also features a walk-around queen bed with innerspring mattress in the master bedroom, in addition to a large wardrobe with a sliding glass door.

The Galley: The real star here is the spacious center island with sink, which adds both cooking and serving space for your guests. The island also features two large drawers (18 inches wide by 10 inches deep) and two cabinets, making it ideal to store your larger pots, pans and platters that may not be in your trailer’s everyday dining rotation. All told, there is a whopping 20 feet of solid-surface counter space in the Patriot, so chefs can truly spread out and not have to worry about cramped quarters. The Patriot also features a large 22-inch oven, which enables you to enjoy a full-size turkey rather than a collection of Cornish game hens when Thanksgiving comes around.

Dutchmen Infinity 3870FK

The Trailer: The stylish Infinity 3870FK is one of the only fifth-wheels in the industry with a front-kitchen floorplan. Gelcoat, high-gloss laminated sidewalls surround the six-sided, welded-aluminum cage construction. Inside, the solid cherry U-dinette table comfortably seats six and includes a built-in leaf. The seat also offers unrestricted viewing of the kitchen’s 32-inch TV. Crown molding, designer window treatments and wood blinds provide a luxurious feel, while a residential-style padded headboard and memory-foam king-size mattress highlight the master bedroom.

The Galley: RV chef-friendly standards in the Infinity include a 12-cubic-foot refrigerator, stainless-steel oven, cooktop and microwave, flush-mount solid surface sink and stove covers, and a handy flip-down breadbasket. The 6-foot, 8-inch upper deck crowned-ceiling height will easily accommodate taller chefs, and the optional rollaway kitchen island adds more prep surfaces and storage space, while adding a residential feel to the kitchen area. Jayco Pinnacle 36 REQ

The Trailer: Jayco’s Pinnacle trailers are designed with residential comfort and longevity at the forefront. Standard amenities include expansive floor-to-ceiling windows in the living area, keyless entry and an outdoor media center. Euro-style aerodynamic front and rear gelcoat caps and a Gel 360 exterior skin should help keep the trailer on the road for a long time, and a plush pillow-top king-size bed and residential-size dresser with full-width drawers in the master bedroom allow owners to extend their time on the road in comfort.

The Galley: The Pinnacle features what Jayco calls the Culinary Dream Kitchen, an upgraded galley with a variety of chef-friendly amenities. Concord Cherry hardwood cabinets with hidden door hinges, a built-in hardwood wine rack, high-gloss Corian countertops and a decorative kitchen backsplash offer a high-end feel. The island workspace is accented with pendant lighting, and the 30-inch microwave, flush-mounted oven with range top and cover and large split stainless-steel undermount sink offer function in addition to form. Keystone Alpine 3600RS

The Trailer: The Alpine features a Max Turn fiberglass front cap that the company says offers a 30 percent improved turning radius over the standard setup. High-gloss exterior sidewalls, a rear fiberglass cap and a one-piece underbelly mean more time on the road, while the E-Z Flex suspension makes that time more enjoyable. Inside, the single-level master bedroom suite features a residential-size king bed with a pillow-top mattress. The residential dinette features a hidden leaf and center storage, and a large 38-inch shower includes a hand-held massaging showerhead and a seat molded into the construction.

The Galley: The Ultimate Kitchen Bundle is included in the MSRP listed and brings Corian counter tops, sink covers and range cover, stainless-steel appliances, range with sealed burners, a 30-inch convection/microwave, and additional dedicated kitchen storage and pantry space.

The 3600RS features a kitchen island sink and additional storage. The island floorplan is highly functional, as the 13-cubic-foot refrigerator, range, oven and sink are easily within reach. For entertaining, the matching Corian sink covers turn the island into a serving/informal dining area.

New Horizons Majestic

The Trailer: With a custom builder such as New Horizons, the options for building a trailer that’s right for you are virtually endless. New Horizons manufactures its chassis, and the one-piece fiberglass roof. The pressure-laminated walls, roof and floor, and aluminum-framed sidewalls add years to the trailer’s life span. The customer’s input drives many of the features on the trailer. Luxury appointments inside Horizons’ top-of-the-line Majestic include a cedar-lined full-access wardrobe, a hardwood dresser in the master and dual recliners in the living area.

The Galley: New Horizons feels that some of the most important components in a gourmet kitchen are adequate lighting, electrical outlets, quality appliances, storage space and superior work surfaces. As such, the company offers many standard gourmet features in the Majestic, including: additional storage above the sink and in the hardwood cabinetry, a four-burner gas cooktop with one high-output burner, a 12.3-cubic-foot refrigerator, a large-capacity convection microwave, a solid wood slide-out pantry with adjustable shelves and Corian solid-surface countertops with a deep, undermount stainless-steel sink. The Trailer: Northwood trailers boast four-season capabilities, and are manufactured to deliver in the most extreme elements. Laminated aluminum-frame construction, R18 insulation and an enclosed underbelly keep the elements out, while Beaufloor flooring, a memory-foam mattress and residential-style furniture keep owners inside in comfort. The Silver Fox edition adds a gray fiberglass front cap, wide-body construction and 6-foot, 6-inch slideout height. Lighting upgrades, kitchen skylight and LED running and taillights are also among the many Silver Fox upgrades.

The Galley: The galleys in Arctic Fox Silver Fox Edition fifth-wheels are designed to offer all the features and functionality of a residential gourmet kitchen. The rich cabinetry features solid-wood doors with an antique glazed finish. The abundance of the cabinetry means there is plenty of space to accommodate the vast supply of ingredients to prepare gourmet meals. The large capacity refrigerator ensures there will be plenty of fresh food on hand, while meal prep and clean up are easy thanks to the solid surface countertops. The countertops all include a convenient trash depository, under-mount sinks and a pull-out galley faucet with sprayer. Cooking is a snap with the convection microwave or the traditional large capacity oven. The Trailer: The Blackwood 3811BH is a family-friendly bunkhouse fifth-wheel that is designed to comfortably sleep up to eight people. Outside, two separate awnings covering more than 22 feet of outdoor living space, mean that the little ones can play all day without the worry of sunburns. Inside, highlights include the foyer bench with four coat hooks, residential bead board design and large storage doors. A private half bath situated near the entry door, and second room makes it easy to entertain and keep the rest of the interior clean.

Solid cherry hardwood cabinets, solid-surface countertops and backsplashes, and more than 10 feet of usable hanger space in the bedroom wardrobe are all standard.

The Galley: Thoughtful convenience highlights the Blackwood’s kitchen. Chefs will appreciate the four-door refrigerator, which greatly expands storage space for perishables (and is actually a near necessity considering the trailer’s sleeping capacity). The 13 feet of counter space offers cooks plenty of real estate for chopping, dicing and stuffing, all while watching the latest Gordon Ramsay show on the 40-inch TV. The galley’s pull-out drawers feature full-extension drawer glides, and a large drawer for pots and pans that is truly a welcome addition. Plus, the large 30-inch over-the-range microwave helps handle quick-heating — and popcorn popping — duties, without impinging on the valuable prep space.
