The new 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel is the first light-duty pickup available with a diesel engine in many years. Designed for folks who appreciate the excellent fuel economy and high torque of a diesel, it is offered with the same 3.0-liter V-6 engine that’s optional in the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV.

The Ram EcoDiesel is rated 240 horsepower, with 420 pound-feet of torque.
A new eight-speed automatic transmission is standard equipment. It’s also found in other Ram 1500 models including the 305-hp gasoline 3.6-liter V-6 and optional 395-hp 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 engine. Equipped with a diesel oxidation catalyst, diesel particulate filter, and selective catalyst reduction, the EcoDiesel V-6 engine will be emissions-compliant in all 50 states.

Chrysler reports that the truck will have “best-in-class fuel economy.” Actual EPA ratings and tow ratings are not yet available. MSRP for the 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel is $2,850 higher than a comparably equipped Ram 1500 fitted with the Hemi V-8 gasoline engine. The 2014 Ram 1500 will be available this fall.2014-Ram-1500-with-EcoDiesel-interior
