2014 GMC Sierra Denali

Originally Published in Trailer Life Magazine

For 2014, the GMC Sierra Denali returns with more gusto and greater towing power. The upcoming Denali will offer an optional 6.2-liter gasoline V-8 with a potent 420 horsepower (estimated) and 450 lb-ft of torque. With this powerplant GMC claims the Denali will have the most power and torque of any light-duty pickup. Trailerists will like the fact it will also give it a best-in-class 12,000-pound towing capacity.

Denali’s standard 5.3-liter V-8 engine will be rated a still strong 355 horses, and GM reports an EPA-estimated 23 highway mpg. Mileage for the 6.2-liter V-8 hasn’t been announced.

Inside there will be an eight-inch LCD dash screen, which can be configured to display audio, telephone, GPS navigation and other settings. Touch navigation and smart-phone connectivity are standard, along with plenty of USB ports. Additional  standard features include a premium Bose audio, parking sensors, ventilated seats, and a heated steering wheel. A sunroof and a rear-seat DVD entertainment system will be stand-alone options and a safety package adds lane-departure warnings and forward-collision alerts.

The rugged off-road Z71 4×4 package will include hill descent control, skid plates, and Rancho shocks. Pricing for the 2014 Denali, which goes on sale later this year, has not yet been announced.
