2013 Ford Expedition

Despite downsizing and the trend towards smaller, lighter “crossover” models, with the Expedition Ford continues to produce one of the largest SUVs, which is well-suited to towing larger travel trailers. This model comes in two sizes, the standard-length Expedition and the extended-length Expedition EL. The EL is 14.8 inches longer, with more cargo space and easier third-row access.

Expedition’s front captain’s chairs afford an excellent view, and a telescopic steering wheel and power-adjustable pedals accommodate most drivers. There’s plenty of head and knee room and even the third row is fairly spacious. EL models offer 130 cubic feet of cargo space, with their additional 24 cubic feet aft of the third-row seat. The EL’s longer rear doors also make accessing the third row easier. Amenities include a PowerFold third-row seat and power tailgate that are welcome when loading kids and cargo.

Choose from XL, XLT, Limited, and King Ranch trim packages and ten equipment groups. Standard equipment through the range includes keyless entry, heated power mirrors, air conditioning, electro-chromic rearview mirror, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The interior of the 2012 Ford Expedition is very spacious, even the third row has room for most passengers.

For 2013 Ford added a new dual-head-restraint DVD system, and new 20-inch chromed aluminum wheels. Ford’s MyKey system and SecuriCode keypad-entry system are handy features and the Sync system is combined with voice-activated navigation and HD Radio in premium trim levels.

Expeditions are powered by a 5.4-liter V-8 with 310-horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque. Four-wheel drive is available and a six-speed automatic transmission is standard equipment. Expedition is rated to tow up to 9,200 pounds when properly equipped.
