Full-sized vans are often overlooked by towing enthusiasts, but they offer good pulling power, long wheelbases for excellent stability and spacious interiors. Chevrolet’s rear-wheel drive Express vans, available in 1500, 2500 and 3500 versions, provide a rugged and roomy means for transporting passengers, a large amount of cargo and towing a trailer. They’re available with a standard 135-inch wheelbase and tow ratings of 10,000 pounds.

The 1500 series has a standard 195 horsepower V6 and optional and for heavy haulers, there are three engines offered for the Savana 2500 and 3500 lineup: a 280-hp Vortec 4.8-liter V8, a 324-hp Vortec 6.0-liter V8, and a 6.6-liter Duramax diesel V8 rated 260 horsepower at 3,100 rpm and 525 lb.-ft. of torque. All of these engines are teamed with a six-speed automatic transmission. Passenger vans are available in LS or LT trim, and can handle up to 15 passengers.

Popular options and safety features include four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, Stabilitrak, and front airbags with a side curtain airbag on the passenger vans. Working in conjunction with the StabiliTrak Electronic Stability Control System, the new Trailer Sway Control feature senses trailer sway and automatically applies the vehicle’s brakes and reduces engine power, if necessary, to help you get back on track. Prices range from $25,090 to $46,835.
