For 2012 the Chevrolet Colorado midsize pickup is offered in three body styles; regular, extended and crew cab, plus three different trim levels. Crew cabs come equipped with 5-foot boxes, other models get a 6-foot box.
Three engines are available to match your needs. A 2.9-liter four rated 185 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque is the base engine. A 3.7-liter five-cylinder rated 242 hp and 242 lb-ft of torque is the intermediate powerplant and a 5.3-liter V8 rated 300 hp and 320 lb-ft is the top of the line. A properly equipped V8 Colorado is rated to tow up to 6,000 pounds. EPA fuel mileage ranges from 18 mpg city/25 mpg highway on four-cylinder models to 14 mpg city/19 highway on V8 4WD crew cabs.
Base models get a five-speed manual gearbox standard, and a four-speed automatic is optional; all other models get the four-speed automatic. Four-wheel drive is available on all models and features a two-speed transfer case and automatic locking rear differential. An off-road suspension package includes 17-inch wheels and heavy duty suspension.
All 2012 Colorados come standard with the OnStar emergency communications system, ABS brakes, stability control and traction control, a bedliner, air-conditioning, cruise control, Bluetooth and AM/FM stereo. Extras include an AM/FM/CD player with satellite radio, heated leather front bucket seats and more.
